The Indian Railways earlier had announced a gradual restart of passenger train service from May 2020 in a phased manner. However, in a recent major announcement, Indian Railways said it has suspended all train ticket bookings made till June 30. Meanwhile, the special trains will continue to ply as planned.
Ticket Refunds & Cancellations
With this new update, many travelers have raised doubts regarding self-cancellations of e-tickets. If you have booked through IRCTC or any affiliate platform like RailYatri.in, you are eligible for a full refund provided by the Indian Railways. There are some standard train ticket cancellation rules, which you can adhere to.
In view of trains being canceled because of the coronavirus outbreak, a full refund amount will be credited to the user account used for booking of e-tickets. The Traveler’s refund will be initiated automatically after the mentioned date of journey.
Wait-list updates in special trains
For the special trains, railways have even decided to soon permit wait-list tickets on special trains. Also, if someone is unable to travel due to novel-coronavirus symptoms, the passenger can get a full refund upon cancellation.
